We are excited to be chatting with "womanist", Corrina Antrobus about her most recent book, ""I Love Romcoms and I am a Feminist" - a celebration of 100 of the best romantic comedies of all time – all with proper feminist credentials. We all love romcoms. They keep us on the edge of our seats, waiting for the two leads to fall madly in love. But what you may not realize is that they often contain profound feminist messages that have the power to re-shape how we think about sexism and women’s rights. About Corrina:
Corrina Antrobus is a born and bred East Londoner, film writer, podcaster and founder of The Bechdel Test Fest—a celebration of films that present women in a positive and dynamic light. In 2017 she was awarded a Trailblazer Award from Melissa Silverstein’s Women and Hollywood, which advocates and agitates for gender diversity and inclusion in the global film industry. She is a regular BIFA juror and judged the Aswan’s International Women Film Festival in Egypt in 2018. She is a film writer and podcaster who also meddles in film distribution, marketing and exhibition, and who loves nothing more than attending film festivals and sniffing around old cinemas around the world.
