Managing Stress During This COVID-19 Pandemic

Wednesday, May 137:00—8:00 PMVirtualThe Newbury Town Library0 Lunt St. , Byfield, MA, 01922

This pandemic is uncharted territory for most people, causing many to panic, feel anxious and stressed. Unmanaged stress is the last thing any of us needs right now because stress weakens the immune system, rendering you more susceptible to illness. However, understanding the affects and effects of our habits, attitudes, perceptions, and reactions on our stress levels is an important first step to successful stress management.

Practicing a daily stress-reducing technique, such as progressive relaxation or mindful breathing exercises, is another key to living a stress-reduced life. Resilience is not a trait people are born with. Resilience involves behaviors, thoughts, skills, and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone. In my work as a resilience strategist, I have found repeatedly that when people come to understand what is resilience, can recognize and strengthen the skills they have, and learn how to develop those skills they do not have, their ability to manage stress and live more flourishing lives increases.
