Join us for a performance by Flamenco Boston on the back lawn of the Newbury Town Library for a special retirement send-off to Jean Ackerly, retired NTL Director! Bring a blanket or beach chair, a snack or picnic supper (we'll provide the cake), and settle in for an exhilarating performance. You'll even have the opportunity to step up and learn to dance should you so choose! Appropriate for all ages.

Flamenco Boston was founded in 2007. The organization’s mission is to bring more flamenco dancing to the Boston area by providing flamenco dance classes and performances. Featured performers will be dancers Lydia Krebbs and Laura Sanchez, guitarist Antonio Tiriti Tran, and singer Aria Maria Villa.

Flamenco is an art form originating from south of Spain. It blends the influences of the Andalusians, the Moors, Sephardic Jews, Indians and Gypsies. Flamenco involves dynamic and rhythmic footwork, intricate guitar playing, and emotional singing.

With a combined history of more than 60 years of experience, the Flamenco Boston performers present a show based on the traditions of flamenco. They add their own modern flare and showcase the various styles and the wide emotional range that this art form has to offer.

* Sponsored by the Friends of the Newbury Town Library

The program is free to the public.
