Felted Soap Workshop

Saturday, May 1310:30 AM—12:00 PMThe Lois M. Anderson Community RoomThe Newbury Town Library0 Lunt St. , Byfield, MA, 01922

Learn the basics of making felted wool soap (soap and washcloth all-in-one). Felted soap is not only beautiful, but also great for your skin and for the environment. The felted wool creates a nice gentle exfoliant, plus wool is a naturally antibacterial fiber, so you don’t need to worry about mold or mildew.

Workshop participants will learn the basics of wet-felting and leave with two bars of finished felted soap. Great for gift giving and of course to keep one for yourself. You will choose from a variety of local, colorful wool roving to create your unique bars of soap. Hand-crafted soap, in a variety of scents, will be provided. However, please feel free to bring your own bars if you have a preference.

Presenter Bio: Pauline Fabiano has been a soap maker for close to 8 years. When she discovered the fun in making, and using, felted soaps her business took a whole new turn. Her felted soaps are sold in over a dozen shops and farm markets throughout New England . She also has an Etsy shop to sell nationwide. Pauline has done felted workshops for many other libraries in the area and ensures that participants have fun while learning a new skill. It's not just about the soap, it's about the sense of community and crafting together. There are always lots of laughs and great conversation. Plus, the bonus of creating a high-quality item with locally sourced wool.
